I hope everyone had a good round of holidays and a good start to the fresh year!! I enjoyed reading everyone's entries anyway, I was pretty busy (ok that's a lie I was just nowhere near a computer as is my right) and took the week off and stuff, which was good...
r.l. wanking:
because god I had some pretty shitty things happen. the thursday before xmas there was a (bad thing that was weird and complicated) and it's such a weird thing I'm like... yeah idk how to think about this. weird. and complicated! then xmas itself was kind of a shitshow, like I know it's way better than people who have like, evil bigot families they have to deal with but jfc, my sister and I had to have like multiple talks about it because it was like, a weird damaging event. like. being vague holy shit please just talk to people you care about about things that bother you instead of storing them away in a little hate container in your mind. wild that people way, way older than me can NOT figure this out and actually choose to live like this.
otherwise though, I had a good time. My sister being around for a while always means we'll do fun stuff, so we did crafts, watched movies, played games, which is all you can ask for in a little monkey life!! I will highlight some of these things now.
Bayonetta 3: We've always played these together so I had to wait a bit (not as long as we'll have to wait for that storybook one) but damn, I really loved this game. I've seen people criticize it which... of course is fine but I literally don't understand a lot of the complaints. People have issues with the story which is like, ok yeah we're all tired of the multiverse but this game was in production for a long time so it probably seemed a little more novel in planning. and I won't hold that against anything 100%, maybe it was multiverse but at least it wasn't meta. but also do people honestly care about the story of Bayonetta... I could not tell you what the other two games were about. It's spectacle, it's a cool ass witch lady summoning hair monsters, it's a goofy sexy game. And in this one she has monster forms so I have no complaints whatsoever. I will talk about this more later...
As far as movies, I wanted to finish out some halloweenies that were going to be leaving criterion soon, and man, I'm so glad we did. We also watched a lot of giallo, my beloved.
Wolfen: I don't know why there aren't more werewolf movies (honestly I know I'm missing a few of the big ones like Ginger Snaps and actually never saw American etc all the way through) because there's like, as much potential as anything else but damn, this one was really good. Just like a cool werewolf sorta police procedural with really cool visuals (my sister and I were talking about mirrored blinds all week) and actual wolf werewolves, my favorite kind. I'm going to draw fanart of this. This is a poor description it's a really cool movie I swear.
The Hidden: this movie should be a CLASSIC tbh. I don't want to give away what happens even though it's actually spoiled very early on, because it's badass and the description given that's like, ~something~ is turning people into ferrari driving maniacs is all you want to know. Also it has a good boy FBI/regularish type detective dynamic. Great movie for squib fans. The ending is perfect too. It's like, one of those movies where yes, when you see what's going on you'll probably figure out a lot of what's going to happen but it's VERY satisfying when it does. And successfully tells a very fun story in an hour and a half... (a very good contrast in multiple ways because we watched Glass Onion after this and boy did I not care for it at all I will be nice)
I'm not going to talk about it but to prove I'm not like some kind of filme jerk we also watched league of super pets and I laughed way more than expected (I watched for guinea pigs), honestly was a very good time. By far the best movie I watched this year that was from this year (I think that was 4 movies in total but that's pretty good for me tbh)
Soon I'll probably do my end of the year game roundup that I have done on various other abandoned blogs, and idk, maybe I'd think about a movie one too... or maybe just an overall things I liked from last year, but I don't know about that. We'll see.
And I don't really do real resolutions but here's some thoughts for the coming year, I guess:
1. This one's hard. but. it's important I need to be brave and get it together. >_< at least consider. shit.
2. ok enough of that in more doable things keep on doing whatever it is I want to do and try everything I like. I tried so many new crafts and I never regret it, right now I am starting CLOTHES and I truly believe being fat and free is tied to being able to present yourself in ways you want and not the ways barely provided to you. I want to make pants!!!
3. kinda related but I want to actually and really make something on my own that is slightly substantial. I can't expect people I know to be doing a zine or whatever enough times a year to satisfy me, and I have jonesed so LONG to make a vn or comic or rpgmaker or zine, I wanna do one and I can if I just do it!!! just for myself.
4. it's scary as someone who does still believe in covid but I would also like to join a club irl. idk what for, but there's plenty nearby so... yeah I'm not nervous it's more the figuring it all out and being lazy haha. I should go to the library again too. this might be a real resolution.
